Solid Start
It was great to see so many parents out watching the race today.
It was a sunny and warm day, and our teams got off to a solid start against Monomoy’s strong teams. In fact, they may be some of the best team competition among the Lighthouse Division schools this fall. We shall see.
On the boys side, we have a young group who put in a solid effort against a much older and more experienced group of runners from Monomoy. Liam led our boys team with D’Andre running a strong effort and newcomer Gavin running well to round out CCA’s top three. Troy and Rowan also had a good start, with Rowan completing his first varsity race. Silas should be proud about running in his very first cross country meet.
The girls’ team is in a rebuilding phase after losing four of last season's top five runners. While the team had their first loss in league competition since September 2021, the girls ran well against a formidable Monomoy team. Lilly led the team, Nora remained impeccably consistent, and Leah appears to be gaining comfort in her role rounding out the top three. Noelle continues to provide leadership for the girls and beat her time on Monomoy’s course by over one minute (from 2022). New runner Halley should be proud for completing her very first varsity cross country race.
Also, Emerson ran a strong race to finish first and was just ahead of her time on the Monomoy course two years ago. We are glad she is training with us this season.
