The mathematics curriculum is designed according to the recommendations of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics (1989, 2000). It encompasses a broad range of topics and emphasizes problem solving and understanding of underlying concepts as well as applications. The use of calculators and computers is integrated throughout the course sequence.
Ms. Wiley has been teaching for 33 years, 17 of which have been at CCA. She currently teaches 6th and 8th grade math, is a Class Advisor and Middle School Advisor. She holds a BS in Education from St. Bonaventure University and an MS in remedial reading from Central Connecticut State University. Her past school roles include Math Department Chair, Dean of Students and coaching roles in both boys and girls basketball.
